Houston mom mows lawns for free to help others

This Houston mom mows lawns for free! And if you’re a senior or a veteran, she’s ready to help.

Lauren Laborde is a mother of two and our new hero – because she’s mowing lawns for free.

It’s a way to give back to those over the age of 65 amid the coronavirus pandemic.

“I realized a lot of seniors are on fixed incomes, so I figured there’s a creative way to help them out.”

Laborde uses a Toro 22-inch recycler lawn mower, an edger, and chainsaws.

Lauren Laborde

Yes, she really mows lawns for free

She told ABC 13 that her availability is flexible due to her losing her job in the oil and gas industry during the pandemic, though weekdays are preferable to weekends. (You can contact her here.)

Laborde is one of 11 volunteers with I Want To Mow Your Lawn, a national non-profit founded by Brian Schwartz, an advertising executive who also lost his job due to the pandemic.

Senior citizens and veterans were fighting greater battles against COVID-19.

Swartz decided that a free grass-cutting service was a good (and safe) way to help.
